Bespoke Engineering Service

Custom audio surveillance manufacturing & integration

K9 Electronics provides bespoke manufacturing and integration services for qualified professional users who require audio surveillance electronics fitted into customer-supplied equipment, purpose-built housings or OEM product platforms.

Custom Listening Devices

Engineering around the customer's equipment

Some professional applications cannot be met by an off-the-shelf enclosure. Our custom service allows qualified customers to provide an item, housing or equipment platform for technical assessment and integration of a suitable K9 audio surveillance module. The work is performed as a controlled engineering service, with the mechanical, electrical, audio and RF requirements considered together.

01

Customer-supplied equipment

Assessment of suitable customer-provided equipment or housings for professional audio-surveillance integration, subject to technical feasibility and end-user qualification.

02

Board-level integration

K9 transmitter and audio modules can be integrated at board level where a standard finished enclosure is not appropriate for the customer's authorised application.

03

Bespoke mechanical design

Mechanical packaging, mounting, connectors and service access can be engineered around the available space without treating RF, audio and power requirements as afterthoughts.

04

Power & interface adaptation

Where technically appropriate, power arrangements and electrical interfaces can be adapted to the host platform while maintaining safe operation and serviceability.

05

Prototype & low-volume manufacture

One-off engineering prototypes, evaluation units and small production runs can be considered alongside longer-term OEM and distributor programmes.

06

RF & audio verification

Completed integrations can be bench-tested for RF behaviour, antenna performance, audio operation, power consumption and receiver compatibility before delivery.

Development Process

From requirement to finished integration

Custom work begins with the operational requirement and the engineering constraints of the customer-supplied platform. We then determine whether a standard K9 module, a modified board-level assembly or a bespoke configuration is the most appropriate route.

1

Requirement review

We establish the intended professional application, end user, required operating characteristics and the equipment or housing to be assessed.

2

Technical assessment

Available space, power, RF environment, audio path, antenna constraints and mechanical considerations are reviewed before committing to a design.

3

Integration design

The appropriate K9 electronics, mechanical arrangement and interfaces are selected or adapted for the approved customer platform.

4

Prototype build

A prototype or first article is assembled and evaluated before any repeat build or production batch is authorised.

5

Bench verification

RF, audio, power and functional checks are completed using suitable laboratory test equipment and the intended receiver architecture.

6

Delivery & support

The finished integration is supplied to the qualified customer with the agreed operating information and project-specific technical support.

Engineering Capability

Custom work backed by RF measurement and prototype capability

Integration quality is determined by more than whether the electronics physically fit. Antenna behaviour, RF link margin, audio performance, current consumption and the surrounding materials can all affect the completed system. K9 uses laboratory measurement and prototype testing to verify the finished design.

Board-level prototyping allows the electronics and mechanical platform to be developed as one engineered system.
OEM & Specialist Supply

One-off projects, specialist builds and OEM programmes

The service is suitable for qualified organisations that need more than a catalogue product. Projects can range from a single technical integration through to repeat manufacture for an approved OEM, distributor or professional surveillance-equipment programme.

Custom Manufacturing FAQ

Common questions

Can K9 fit audio surveillance electronics into equipment supplied by the customer?
Yes, where the equipment is technically suitable and the project meets our professional end-user and lawful-use requirements. We first assess the available space, power, RF and mechanical constraints before confirming feasibility.
Can you manufacture a one-off custom listening device?
One-off prototypes and first-article builds can be considered. Some projects are more economical as a small batch, so the proposed quantity is reviewed as part of the initial engineering assessment.
Do you offer board-level modules for OEM integration?
Yes. Selected K9 systems can be supplied or adapted as board-level modules for approved OEM and specialist integration programmes.
Can you work from a customer-supplied housing or existing product platform?
Yes, subject to inspection and technical suitability. The host equipment is treated as part of the overall engineering system rather than simply as an enclosure.
How do we start a custom project?
Contact K9 Electronics with your organisation, intended authorised application, approximate quantity and a brief description of the equipment or platform you want assessed. Sensitive project information can then be handled through the appropriate commercial channel.
Qualified Professional Users

Custom audio-surveillance manufacturing and integration is offered only to qualified professional, government, law-enforcement, licensed-investigator, OEM and approved distributor customers. Projects are subject to end-user qualification, technical feasibility and applicable UK export controls.
