A British Surveillance Equipment Manufacturer

K9 Electronics designs and builds encrypted covert listening devices in the United Kingdom — not a reseller of imported hardware, but a genuine RF and firmware engineering house with control of the product from component to concealment.

Who We Are

Engineering-led, agency-focused

K9 Electronics Ltd is a UK electronics design and manufacturing company based at Northampton Science Park. Our covert audio division designs encrypted listening devices and audio surveillance systems for law enforcement, government agencies and licensed professional users — equipment held to a far higher operational-security standard than the commodity bugging devices sold on the open market.

Unlike the rebranded import hardware common in this sector, our systems are engineered in-house. The RF front end, the firmware, the encryption and the frequency-hopping link are all our own work, built around the S2-LP digital radio platform. That control is what lets us offer genuine component- and firmware-level repairability and bespoke concealment work, rather than fixed sealed units.

Designed for operational security

Every product decision starts from the same premise: the device must survive a competent counter-surveillance sweep. AES-128 encryption protects the audio even if a transmission is intercepted, frequency hopping denies an adversary a fixed carrier to lock onto, and low-detectability transmit modes keep the on-air footprint to seconds. For environments where any RF signature is unacceptable, our non-RF carrier-current devices move audio over building wiring instead.

Part of a wider capability

The covert audio range sits alongside K9's broader electronic-warfare and counter-surveillance engineering — including the AWJ agile-waveform jamming platform — giving agency customers a single UK source for complementary surveillance and counter-surveillance capability.

RF ENGINEERING

Bench-level RF development

Design work spans transmitter architecture, receiver performance, filters, antennas, RF power stages and spectrum analysis.

ELECTRONICS

PCB and embedded development

Digital, analogue and embedded electronics are developed around the operational requirements of specialist surveillance equipment.

MANUFACTURE

UK build and technical support

Products are supported from component and firmware level rather than treated as imported catalogue hardware.

Engineering Capability in Practice

RF development supported by measurement

Credible RF product development depends on measurement as well as design. Antenna behaviour, prototype electronics and transmitted signals each need to be evaluated in the appropriate domain.

RF TEST

Antenna and impedance measurement

VNA measurements help characterise matching, resonance and bandwidth before the RF system is assessed in its final mechanical configuration.

DEVELOPMENT

Prototype electronics

Bench prototypes allow audio, embedded control, RF stages, power consumption and mechanical constraints to be evaluated before a design is committed to production.

VALIDATION

Spectrum analysis

Frequency-domain measurement is used to assess occupied bandwidth, spectral behaviour and RF performance during development and technical evaluation.

Lawful Supply

K9 Electronics supplies covert audio equipment only to qualified professional and agency customers, for use under lawful authority, and in compliance with UK export controls. We do not sell to the general public.

Bespoke Integration

Custom manufacturing and customer-equipment integration

Alongside standard K9 systems, our engineering team supports bespoke integration and approved OEM projects where audio-surveillance electronics need to be engineered around a customer-supplied equipment platform or specialist housing. Explore the custom manufacturing service →
